Radio War
Documentary
In the 1930s, a new voice began reaching across the Mediterranean into Africa and the Middle East: Fascist Italy's colonial radio, broadcasting seduction and menace in equal measure from a tower on the Adriatic coast. Radio War follows the century-long afterlife of that invention — from shortwave transmissions built to incite and to pacify, to the information battles still fought today over the same skies. Combining archival broadcasts with present-day voices, the film asks what changes, and what doesn't, when war moves from the trenches to the airwaves.
