In 1964, the year Tanzania was born, the Italian state oil company AGIP/ENI opened a motel in downtown Dar es Salaam. Today it stands abandoned, and its owners have opened it to us. Through the people who worked, stayed and grew up around it, the film holds two histories usually told apart: the decolonisation of an African nation and the transformation of a European state company.
